Bedok 85

Have you been to Bedok 85? This is one of the best place you can hang around for supper! Okay, for most northerner, you would start protesting: SO FAR leh~

Let me introduce to you the most famous Bah Chor Mee in Bedok 85! Please don’t make a fool of yourself and order a dry Bah Chor Mee with more chili! This Bah Chor Mee is suppose to be 汤的!

XING JI ROU CUO MIAN vs SENG HIANG FOOD STALL

IMG_7801

There are two stalls side by side selling the same kind of Bah Chor Mee. Well, most of my friends commented that both taste the same. To do justice, tell me which is your favorite! :)

XING JI ROU CUO MIAN

IMG_7832

Heard from my friends that Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian is the original one. I personally prefer theirs too! They are very generous with their ingredients, just that the portion can be quite small. Inside this small bowl of Bah Chor Mee, there are 4 meat balls and a lot of Bah Chor! Compared to the stalls you find at random hawker center, you have two extra meat balls! (I am so happy, because I love meat balls) Well, the soup actually taste thinner with a less meaty smell. NICE! Their noodle is also very ‘Q’. But of course, the waiting time is longer! :)

Small: $2.50 / Big: $3.00

SENG HIANG FOOD STALL

Of course, we can’t forget the next stall, Seng Hiang Food Stall. Similarly, they have 4 meat balls, a lot a lot of Bah Chor! ( YES REALLY A LOT OKAY!) Their soup has a stronger meaty taste. For all carnivores, it will suit your liking! Noodle is softer and more ‘nauw’. Plus! They have shorter waiting time!!! So which to chose, it’s your take! ;)

PETE’S GRILL

IMG_7819

I was highly recommended to try Pete’s Grill by my colleagues. They say the western food has this 古早味, very old school and traditional. So I am game for it! What shocked me when I went to the stall is their price! Not only is kept the traditional taste, it kept the same old price! The price is jaw-dropping affordable! Where else could you find Fish n Chip in Hawker center other than tertiary schools at $4.50? I was skeptical initially, “maybe the portion is pathetic to keep up with the cost?” I was proven wrong when my orders came!

Two favorites recommended by the stall owner is their Fish n Chips and Chicken Chop!

IMG_7834

Ta da~ The Fish n Chip look awesome right? There are two kinds of Fish n Chips, one is coded with a layer of thick batter, another kind is coded with breadcrumbs. Which is to your likings? Personally, I prefer breadcrumbs, they have more fish meat and less flour! More value for money right? Their Fish n Chip is really FRESH! But just a bit hard to bite. Love the tartar sauce, fries and the baked bean!

IMG_7837

Next up is Chicken Chop! I love chicken chop! I really love chickens! The chicken is really TENDER, just the sauce is not that 入味 (not thick and salty enough). Still it did reminds me of those school canteen memories. I would say overall it is value for money! But if you are those very Yim Chim kind, then this might not suits you. :)

Best Seller: Fish n Chip ($4.50) / Chicken Chop ($4.50)

Food rating: 3.8 / 5.0

BEDOK 85 FRIED OYSTER OMELETTE

IMG_7815

Fried Oyster Omelette ‘O Ah Jian’ is one of the Singaporean favorite supper dish! Almost every table ordered their oyster omelette, so I am ordering too! Many told me that Bedok Fried Oyster Omelette is a ‘must try’!

IMG_7823

Personally, I felt that the oyster omelette is not very crispy, maybe due to the crowds and huge demands. There seems to be too much flour added, causing it to taste very starchy. But what I like about their oyster omelette is they are very generous with their egg, compared to other stalls. Their chili sauce is nice! For those faint-hearted do not try their chili. Overall, I felt that the oyster omelette is over rated, but still, it is a good supper dish!

SIN BEDOK NORTH BBQ CHICKEN WING

IMG_1418

This BBQ chicken wing is soooo good! The meat is so tender with the BBQ taste. What’s important is the wings must be crispy and with one bite, your teeth will sink into the meat. The chili that goes with it is ‘hot’ and ‘sexy’! Well like my colleagues say, normally BBQ wings are good, you seldom find any that is so bad. So give it a try! :)

$1.10 per pc

CHAI CHEE PORK PORRIDGE

IMG_1430

I know you will hate me for this picture that is not doing any justice to the porridge. So I hope the words that I type will be enough to cover my ‘sin’. The porridge has this generous humongous meat ball and very very generous century egg! I love their porridge! Their porridge is just nice! It is those ‘kump kump’ kind of porridge. Sink in your spoon, you will find it filled with ingredients waiting for you to indulge. :) LOVE IT!  Promise me you will try k? ;D

$2.50-$3.00
